It is with heavy hearts that we recognize the passing of Marian (Mary Lou) Zerse, Mother of our member Patrick Zerse.

Marian (Mary Lou) Zerse 81, of Warren, formerly of Ferndale, passed away Thursday April 16, 2020.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1957 and went to Highland Park Community College. She loved basketball, baseball, classic cars, gardening, drawing, her family and her extended Joseph family.
Mary Lou and James Zerse were patrons of Ferndale Public Schools Music Program. They also helped create the current music booster organization.
Mary Lou worked for Ferndale Public Schools for 20 years, starting in Adult Education and finishing at Wilson Elementary as a Librarian.
She has 3 children, Patrick, Sheila (Gary) Callahan and Erick. She also has 3 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband James Zerse, her parents Marion and Dorothy (Tuttle) Reiker and long time companion Annis Joseph.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The Ferndale Community Concert Band is a diverse, inclusive, and multigenerational musical ensemble of experienced volunteer musicians from all over metro Detroit.
Its mission is twofold: to provide quality, challenging musical and mentoring experiences for the members and student musicians, as well as educating and entertaining the citizens of Ferndale and surrounding communities.
